This Privacy Policy describes how Tidewater Transit Co., Inc. (“Tidewater,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses personal information when you visit tidewater-transit.com (the “Site”), request a transportation quote, contact us, or otherwise interact with our services (“Services”). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly. When you submit our “Get a Quote” request, we collect your first and last name, company name, phone number, email address, and details about your shipment, including commodity information, weekly volume, weight, cargo type, origin and destination locations, pickup and delivery dates and times, and any safety data sheet (SDS) or other document you upload. When you contact us by phone, email, or social media, we collect the information you choose to share.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, our website platform automatically collects certain technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, device characteristics, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and dates and times of access. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies for site operation, security, and basic usage statistics.
Job applicants. Our careers pages link to a third-party application platform (IntelliApp / driverapponline.com) operated by a separate provider. Information you submit there is collected and processed under that provider’s privacy practices in addition to ours.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to respond to quote requests and inquiries; to provide, schedule, and perform transportation and logistics services; to communicate with you about your shipments and our services; to operate, secure, and improve the Site; to comply with legal, regulatory, safety, and contractual obligations (including transportation and hazardous-materials requirements); and for other purposes with your consent.
3. How We Disclose Information
We may disclose personal information to service providers and vendors who perform functions on our behalf (such as website hosting, IT, and communications providers); to carriers, partners, or subcontractors as necessary to fulfill a transportation request; in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets; and when required to comply with law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Tidewater, our customers, or others. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality, security, and basic usage statistics provided by our website platform (WordPress.com / Jetpack). We do not use these technologies for targeted or interest-based advertising, and we do not use third-party advertising analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect site functionality.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide our Services, maintain business and transaction records, and comply with legal, tax, safety, and regulatory obligations, after which we delete or anonymize it.
6. Data Security
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children’s Privacy
The Site and Services are intended for businesses and individuals 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.
8. Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to: know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you; know the categories of sources, the business purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties to whom we disclose it; request deletion of your personal information; request correction of inaccurate personal information; and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Because we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, no “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” action is required; however, we honor opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control where applicable.
In the prior 12 months, we have collected the categories of personal information described in Section 1 (identifiers, commercial and shipment information, internet or other electronic network activity information, and professional or company-related information). We collect this from you directly and automatically through the Site, for the business purposes described in Section 2. We have not sold or shared personal information in the prior 12 months.
